Ken Hodge is an Eagle Scout who grew up in Staunton, VA. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Forestry and Wildlife Management, from Virginia Tech, and an MBA from the UVA Darden School of Business.  He worked in Liberia for three and a half years – first for Firestone Tire as a rubber planter and then as an accountant for a subsidiary of Getty Oil. In the mid 1970’s, Ken returned to Virginia and settled in Newport News. 

For more than forty years, Ken has been active in the insurance industry and served on numerous committees and held offices in related insurance associations. Ken has earned the CLU designation and has held various NASD licenses. Along with Kim Prevette, Ken co-founded Benefit Plan Services and serves as its President.  His current focus is working with Seniors that have Medicare and working with employer group health insurance plans. 

Within his community, Ken has served as President of the Hampton Roads Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society; participated actively as a  Boy Scout troop leader; coached youth baseball and soccer as his children were growing up; served as President and Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Newport News; developed the current Rotary Youth Exchange program for Rotary District 7600; served as a member of the Bridges to Prosperity Board of Directors; Served 3 years as the D7600 Rotary Foundation Development Officer.  He and his wife, Cindy, are a members of Stone House Presbyterian Church, in Lanexa, where Ken has served as a member of Session.

In 2008 Ken led the Rotary Club of Newport News’ efforts to be awarded a $360,000 Rotary International 3H Grant to imbed Bridges to Prosperity technology in Zambia.  To support the requirement that his Club raise $60,000 for the grant, in December of 2008, Ken led a fund-raising event where, together with daughter Katie, son Ryan, and two others, they rode five BMW motorcycles on a five-week 8,400 mile trek, from Lima Peru back to Newport News.  Along the way they visited Machu Picchu, Tikal, and numerous Bridges to Prosperity sites.  The ride was chronicled in a March 2010 article in Rider Magazine.

Ken and his wife Cindy live in Lanexa, and have four children and five grandchildren.  Additionally, scattered around the world they have 7 prior Rotary Youth Exchange students that they have hosted.
